Class of 2009 Mark Smith
Mark started playing hockey at Steinberg Ice
Rink.
He then was hired to be a stickboy for
the St. Louis Braves.
Mark playted for the Blue Flames
traveling team along with Dave Bates and Mark Kohrs.
When the Blues came to town in 1967, Mark was then hired as the
visiting team stickboy.
He traveled to Quebec City and was selected as the ‘Rookie of the
Year’ in Junior B.
The following year, he played Junior A with
teammates Guy Lafluer and Andre Savard on the Quebec Remparts of the
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Later, he then played with the Cornwall
Royals alongside teammates Bob Murray and John Wensink.
Mark was also selected to the U.S. Junior All-Star team by coach Bob
Johnson.
Mark’s biggest thrills in hockey were learning to play hockey in St.
Louis, working for the Blues organization, and playing the Quebec
Major Junior Hockey League.
Mark will always cherish the many wonderful people he has met through
the game of hockey.
